PIRTEK
RACING JOINS THE SST 120 CLASS!!
This year the #4 PIRTEK Racing Team steps up to the
next level of racing by joining the SST 120 Class!
This is the premier series class of OPC in APR (F2)
and ChampBoat (Champ 2).
The 16 foot boat is powered by a Mercury 122 cubic
inch essentially stock power head on racing mid-sections
and racing gear cases and produces approximately 200
HP. It is not unusual to see three to five of these
boats hit the turn together at over 100 mph. Mercury
Racing produced this motor in the mid 1980’s
and continues to provide support through its racing
division. The minimum class weight for SST-120 is
1100 pounds and that includes the boat, motor, and
driver as raced. The SST-120 class reaches competition
speeds of 105 mph and will turn with 4 - 5 g-force’s
applied against the driver, the class has a kilometer
record of nearly 125 mph set in 1996.
The SST 120 is the largest class internationally and
the most competitive
