Expansion outside of Orange marks company’s eighth location in the Golden State

PIRTEK is continuing its expansion in California and across the United States with the opening of PIRTEK Corona. Corona opened in September under the company’s Tier 2 model, making it the eighth PIRTEK location in the Golden State. PIRTEK provides onsite hydraulic and industrial hose-replacement sales and services to several industries.
Kelly Curran, who also owns PIRTEK OC in nearby Orange, Calif., expanded into Corona largely because he could see the potential in the city’s flourishing construction market.
“That area made sense for us because of proximity, obviously, but also there’s a lot of work in the region that’s readily accessible,” said Curran, who opened the full Service & Supply Center in the OC location in June. “It has a lot of promise and we can cultivate that.”
Curran said he will focus on the heavy-equipment and construction markets in Corona, which is about 22 miles east of Orange. The Corona location is a mobile-only business, featuring two fully equipped, 24-hour Mobile Service Vehicles. PIRTEK rolled out its Tier 2 mobile-only option in 2016, enabling entrepreneurs to start up a franchise at a lower point of entry. Under Tier 2, a franchisee can keep the inventory in a small warehouse or storage facility and lease two vehicles. In Corona, Curran will use the OC location for these purposes.
The standard Tier 1 model requires a franchisee to have a full Service & Supply Center staffed with six team members and at least two Mobile Service Vehicles. Tier 2 owners are expected to advance to a Tier 1 location in three years.
Curran said he thoroughly researched Corona’s business market and considers Tier 2 an ideal opportunity in the Riverside County city of nearly 175,000 residents.
“Initially having a Tier 2 means we can service the area out of the OC location,” he said. “We can sufficiently supply the location until we open a full Service & Supply Center in Corona within the next few years.”
His rapid success with the OC location also was a catalyst in the expansion into Corona.
“We have had great success in Orange, and when this opportunity became available, we jumped on it,” he said. “It just makes sense. It’s a seamless transition.”
